Happy belated New Year to everyone!
How is the new year treating you so far? I hope as well as it is for myself and EKOS Communications. Two hours before midnight New Year's eve, I glanced at my e-mail and discovered to my great delight that funding had been approved for the second video to help celebrate BC Parks 100th in 2011.
Since then, more exciting projects have come our way. Four years ago, Oxford University Press Canada asked us to produce an interactive CD-ROM to accompany a first year geography textbook focused on environmental challenges in Canada. They were so pleased with the learning resource that they have come back to us again to produce something a little more special, innovative for the third edition. We're still negotiating the details, but production will commence very soon since the final product has to be ready by mid-April.
We are in the early stages of development with two projects for Parks Canada: one a virtual exhibit to celebrate the agency's 100th in 2011 (same year as BC Parks) and the other a public education and social marketing campaign aimed at reducing carnivore and human conflicts in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and surrounding region. The first project is being mounted with NiCHE - the Network in Canadian History and Environment - a collective of researchers with many of them sharing a keen interest in the national parks.
There are still other projects brewing but I'll withhold saying anything about them until they take on more form.
We also have plans to re-configure our website for the third time so as to make it easier for our clients and publics to find the information they want. For example, when a visitor lands on our home page, they should instantly know where they should go to learn more about the unique services we offer for government agencies, educational institutions, businesses, and not-for-profits.
We also want to re-incorporate elements of our original vision of an environmental media channel which we called ekosTV. Specifically we want to offer news and information relevant to people wishing to learn more about education and communication for the environment and sustainability. What form these elements will take, I can't say for sure, but they could be white papers, e-books, or synopses of research papers. If you have any suggestions that would make our website more relevant and useful to you with regards to these subjects, please let us know.
Well, that's about all the time I have for now. We've got a production meeting this evening that I must prepare for. Till later then.
