No doubt about it...I'm extremely fortunate. Whenever I raise my eyes from the computer screen, I'm struck by the incredibly beauty that lies just outside the window. In the four months that my wife and I have lived here, I've watched an adult and two young orcas played in the kelp beds out where the deep water begins, delighted in the antics of a family of otters diving and splashing in the shallows close to the beach, and chuckled as an osprey teased a flock of resting gulls causing them to repeatedly take flight. Today, it is the golden leaves of the trees in the small park next door, backlight by a mid-afternoon sun, that invite me to become lost in reverie.
Like what just happened. Since I wrote that sentence, a good 20 minutes have elapsed without me realizing it.
No point in fighting the impulse to get outside; it's too strong, or maybe my self-discipline is just too weak. Nah, don't buy that. I've already put in a solid work day, by virtue of not taking coffee breaks and eating my lunch while editing a short video which I want to get posted to the site as soon as possible. So I'm going to give into the pull and go for a run. ekosTV can wait for a little bit. It will do no one any good, if I burn myself out. Don't you agree?
